1. Cafe Restaurant De Plantage
Cafe Restaurant De Plantage is a beautiful restaurant located next to the Amsterdam’s Zoo. The interior is beautiful and spacious. Cafe Restaurant De Plantage serves great food and house wines as the chef used to work at Hotel De Goudfazant. This restaurant also has a terrace that overlooks the birdcage of the zoo. Joyful sight for a delightful lunch or dinner.
2. Hannekes Boom
Hannekes Boom offers a cool eclectic place to hang out and chill. The location is 10 minutes (walking) from Amsterdam Central Station. The atmosphere is very bohemian indeed, and it’s being described as one of the best beer gardens in Amsterdam. Great place for sunny afternoons!
Waterkant is a Surinamese cafe bar located in the heart of Amsterdam. The huge terrace makes it a perfect spot to hang out while having drinks and munching delicious Surinamese food. Waterkant has definitely become one of the most popular hang out spots in Amsterdam.

Louie Louie is one of Amsterdam’s newest hotspots in Amsterdam East. This place isa great spot for breakfast, lunch and drinks. The interior of Louie Louie is spacious and beautiful! They also have an amazing terrace for visitors to enjoy brunch while soaking up the sun. The menu is latin inspired with tacos and sweet potato fries as the customer’s favorite. Yummy!
Rooftop Bars have become a trend here in Amsterdam and people love it. Floor17 is a gorgeous rooftop bar located on the 17th floor of the Ramada Apollo Centre. During the summer, Floor17 is also the host of Rooftop Movie Nights! A very nice and romantic place for a date night.
6. Mossel & Gin
As you can probably already tell from the name, Mossel & Gin serves great… mussels and gin. We particularly love this place for the Gin & Tonic, they’re very refreshing indeed and you can choose from multiple variations. You can find Mossel & Gin right in the middle of Westerpark.
Hoftuin lays in a gorgeous courtyard located behind the Amsterdam’s hermitage and Amstel River. It is surrounded with beautiful architectures and garden. This peaceful place is perfect for lunch and afternoon tea! The food is delicious. Hoftuin is also doing good cause by supporting the Protestant Diocese of Amsterdam. Highly recommend this place!
8. REM Eiland
REM Eiland is a beautiful restaurant that used to be an off-shore oil rig. The food is simply delicious. REM Eiland gives you an insight into the industrial side of Amsterdam. It isrecommended to go there during dinner to enjoy the beautiful sunset and harbor view. They serve great desserts as well!
Volkshotel has become a quirky yet trendy spot in Amsterdam. The rooms that they offer are very unique; forexample the Bicycle Room. If you’re a local, then you can always go to the Werkplaats Cafe, DOKA cocktail bar or Canvas Restaurant & Bar inside the Volkshotel. The Werkplaats Cafe offers great breakfast and coffee. We totally recommend you to explore Volkshotel!
Roest is a relatively new place in Amsterdam where you can either relax during the day or dance to enjoy the nightlife. It is one of the best bars in Amsterdam! De Vergulden Eenhoorn is a true hidden gem. It may look like it is somewhere in the countryside, but it’s actually located in the city centre. De Vergulden Eenhoorn is a cafe, restaurant and a hotel. The interior looks like a trendy farmhouse and the service was great as well. A great place to wine and dine!
12. Canvas op de 7e
Canvas used to be a lunchroom for the employees of De Volkskrant Newspaper. Now, it is located on the rooftop of the Volkshotel. Canvas is the perfect place to enjoy lunch or cocktails while gazing at Amsterdam’s city lights. Our favourite has to be the Shrimp Croquettes. This place is also great for clubbing! Especially during the summer.
13. Brouwerij Troost Westergas
Brouwerij Troost has opened their second shop in the Westerpark area and it is a combination of brewery and bar which everybody loves. The Flammkuchen is quite popular among the locals and if you want to try something different, their homemade Gin is also very good. Brouwerij Troost also have livejazz performances every Wednesday evening!
14. Gent aan de Schinkel
Gent aan De Schinkel is a great cafe with an excellent view on the canal. You can really feel like a true Amsterdam local when you are here. Gent aan De Schinkel serves great beers and finger food. The waiters are friendly and they allow visitors to taste wines before ordering.
15. SkyLounge Amsterdam (DoubleTree by Hilton)
SkyLounge is currently the trendiest rooftop bar in Amsterdam. It’s all over Instagram! SkyLounge has one of thebest views in all of Amsterdam and they serve a great selection of cocktails and other drinks. It can be quite busy in the evenings, so take precautions by making a reservation before coming in!
