A selfish driver has been branded “moronic” after a photo of their parking outside a busy shopping centre was shared on social media.
The picture posted on Facebook shows the driver of a black car having left the vehicle in a yellow box after failing to find a free space, squeezed in between two other cars outside shops in Sydney.
To make matters worse, the two spaces either side are clearly marked as disabled parking spots with the yellow striped area between them reserved for easy access.
The image was shared with the caption: “Yesterday at Warringah Mall – seriously you did this?”, sparking outrage in the comments below as people branded the driver “moronic”.
One slammed the driver for the thoughtless act, writing: “Those yellow marks are for people with wheelchairs or the like. How do you get out of your car let alone into a wheelchair.”
Another said: “Some people are beyond stupid.”
A woman replied to say she had experienced the same thing recently, finding a car parked in the yellow striped area beside her vehicle, which was in a disabled bay.
She said: “I was SO annoyed because it’s just wrong to do that” – adding that the driver thankfully moved their car so she could gain access to her walker, as reported by News.com.au.
Another shared a photo of a child in a wheelchair unable to get to a car because another driver had done the same, writing: “This is the reality and why the striped area is a no parking zone.”
One commenter attempted to defend the driver, replying: “Why do people care so much what other people do?? Live and let live” – only to face furious backlash from others pointing out the problem the issue causes.
